Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com REID, Grace Elinor Peacefully, in her 91st year, Grace Elinor (Hardy) Reid beloved wife of Dr. Sidney G. Reid for 63 years. Grace will be greatly missed by son Jim (Peggy) and daughter Margie Armstrong (Richard) along with grandsons Rick, Taylor, Steve and Brendan. Grace grew up in Oakwood, Ontario and met Sid while she was working as an Occupational Therapist in Scotland. Grace used her skills to help Vets after the Second World War and she continued to cultivate her creative spirit as a talented potter and weaver. Grace and Sid lived in Oakville for 50 years, spent many happy summers at the cottage in Muskoka and visited Barbados each winter. It was a wonderful life, happy and peaceful to the end. Many thanks to the caring staff at Trafalgar Lodge Retirement Residence for all of their help. If desired, donations may be made to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in Grace's memory. BEAUMONT, Jean Elinore (née McNeill) Jean died peacefully and in comfort at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on February 7, following complications from an earlier surgery. Much-loved wife of Dick Beaumont, wonderful mother to Cathy, Rick and Stephen Beaumont, loving mother-in-law to Shawn Laari, Angela Beaumont and Maggie Beaumont, doting grandmother to Andrew and William Beaumont, sister and sister-in-law to Sheila and Robin Nasmith, aunt to Trevor, Karen and Shane Nasmith. The elder daughter of Bill and Edna McNeill, Jean studied physiotherapy at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1954. A chance meeting on a Toronto-Montreal train changed her life, something she knew instinctively, as the next day she told a friend she had just met the man she was going to marry. Dick and Jean were married on May 26, 1956, and began their life together in St. John's, Newfoundland, moving to Halifax in 1958, where Cathy and Rick were born, and to Beaconsfield, Quebec in 1964, where Stephen was born. Jean returned to practicing physiotherapy once the kids were older, using her mind and hands to ease pain and speed healing for many, many people. Jean, Dick and Stephen moved to Oakville in 1979, and it was here that Jean put down her deepest roots, becoming active in the community and St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church, playing tennis and socializing at the Oakville Club, and gaining many dear friends along the way. After she retired from physiotherapy, she worked part-time as an exercise instructor for people with osteoporosis at the Colborne Centre. In 2011 Jean was nominated for the Community Spirit Award of Appreciation, in recognition of her invaluable contributions to the community. Jean loved travel, her home, books, a good laugh, a cold martini and, most of all, her family. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, and will be sorely and deeply missed by many. A visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street in Oakville, on Friday, February 14, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be at St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church at 1541 Oakhill Drive, Oakville, at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 15, followed by a reception at the Oakville Club, 56 Water Street, Oakville. If desired, in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Please visit the Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com HARRIGAN, Margaret "Jean" (nee Macpherson) Passed away suddenly on February 5, 2014 in Naples, Florida at the age of 83. Daughter of Agnes (Glenn) and Keith Macpherson, Jean grew up on the Glenn family farm with her loving mother and exceptional Uncle Bill Glenn in Glanworth Ontario. Jean studied Nursing at the University of Western Ontario, passing with honours and working at Victoria Hospital, London before meeting the love of her life and future husband Kenneth Harrigan. Jean leaves her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Kenneth and her two children Tara Tomlinson (Gerald) and Stephen (Susan). "Grandy" as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, Laura, Kendra, Alanna and Brock are missing her wise, loving and sage advice already. Jean, through her husband Ken's work as CEO of Ford Canada was the consummate hostess for all corporate functions. She also worked diligently on the Board of Directors for Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and as a long term volunteer at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Hospital for Sick Children. Always a proponent of women's rights, she walked the talk and proved the message. She also was very adventurous, trekking in Nepal, safariing in Kenya, sailing in the Canaries and the Caribbean. An avid traveller having lived in the UK, Australia and across Canada, dragging her children with her on her Husband's many promotions, she loved to visit exciting and new places and her children are forever grateful. She will be sorely missed by friends and family both in Naples, Florida and their home in Oakville, Ontario. Visitation will be at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Thursday February 13th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be at St. Jude's Anglican Church 160 William Street, Oakville on Friday February 14th at 2pm. Reception to follow at Seasons Restaurant (134 Lakeshore Rd East.) In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lung Association of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
