On Feb. 14, she will host another such event. The Love Your Heart dinner and dance is at 6 p.m. at Le Dome Banquet Hall on North Service Road East. The fundraiser will support the new hospital currently under construction on Dundas Street at Third Line. Henry said her father, who lived in Mississauga, went to Emergency at Trillium Health Centre alone by taxi early in the morning of Feb. 27, 2010. He died before he was able to see a doctor. It came as a shock to their family who regarded him as the glue that kept them together. "He was a strong, 6-foot-2, big guy, who was full of life and never sick a day in his life," said Henry, describing how he was a very social person who loved to throw parties. She said he went alone to the hospital because he didn't want his wife or his children to worry, which speaks to his selfless character. "He was the type of man to take care of everyone before himself." But rather than let grief overwhelm her, Henry learned more about heart disease. She wanted to do something positive that would not only honour the memory of her father, but also share with others the importance of taking illness seriously. "I know nothing is going to bring my father back, but people need to know not to go to the hospital by themselves. Call an ambulance. An ambulance would have saved (my father's) life," she said, calling heart disease the silent killer. Henry noted by sharing her father's story, she's hoping other families won't have to go through similar tragedy.
