Stewart, also an Oakville Historical Society member, is a dedicated and passionate advocate of heritage preservation in town. She was awarded the Built Heritage Award through the Heritage Community Recognition program for her extensive involvement in town planning studies related to preservation of built heritage and the Doors Open Oakville event, which saw more than 14,000 visits to more than 30 historic sites across the town in 2011 and 2012.
