He was born March 28, 1939 in St. Catharines, ON, the son of Wilfred and Elsie (née Hoyles) Hopkins and lived in Southwestern Ontario for most of his life. He graduated from Kettering University in Flint, MI with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960 and received his MBA from McMaster University in Hamilton, ON in 1965. Terry worked as a Plant Engineer for twelve years before starting his own engineering and manufacturing company, AISCO Inc. in 1972. He sold the company in 1988 and remained a director for ten years. He also sat on the board of Throat Threads Apparel for fifteen years. He moved permanently to Bonita Springs in 2007. Terry battled multiple myeloma (a form of cancer) courageously for over five years. He loved life and all that it has to offer. He appreciated family and friends, socializing and keeping busy with lots of activities. Among the many things he enjoyed were traveling, golf, tennis, bocce, boating and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around. Terry touched many lives. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Pat (née Thorpe); his beloved children, Kelly Hopkins of Burlington, ON and Michael Hopkins of Calgary, AB; his stepchildren, Sherri (Brad) Byk of Austin, TX, Randy Hatley of Austin, TX and Kelli Hatley of Naples, FL; sister, Joyce (Dave) Carse; nephew, Scott Trebilcock; and six cherished grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, 9751 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs. Sandy became the "official" mascot of the TD Bank in Hopedale Mall and was well known by many in Bronte area. Many thanks to the dedicated and caring staff of several veterinarians who looked after Sandy in Mississauga & Oakville. Loving and loved to the end, Sandy a Coton de Tulear (The offical dog Madagascar) passed away peacefully on March 7th 2014. achieving the age of 18 years, 3 months.
