The second annual Great Oakville Pursuit -- Breaking the Silence on Youth Mental Health, an Amazing Race-style event hosted by the Oakville Provincial Youth Advisory Committee (OPYAC), pitted teams from local high schools against one another. At right, the event kicked off at the Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural and Community Centre. Students were given clues and used Oakville Transit to get to different locations, which had activities that encouraged students to raise awareness about youth mental health. This is an initiative, organized by Oakville high school students that aims to raise mental health awareness in the community. "This is such an important issue. It's gaining some traction now with people starting to pay attention," Oakville MPP and Minister of Labour Kevin Flynn, who also chairs OPYAC, told the Oakville Beaver.
