"Throughout his life, he had a single-minded focus in every endeavour he would take on, whether it be music, camping, wine-making. He even embraced new technology and took a computer course at Sheridan College in his 80s... anything he did, he did well." Fletcher says one of her fondest memories of her father was back when she was about to graduate from high school. Her guidance counsellor and principal were upset with her after she told them she was going to pursue her dream career in music. "They kept insisting I was wasting my life and I should go into medicine like my father because I had the marks for it. But I really wanted to go into music," said Fletcher, who is an accomplished pianist herself. "My dad went into the school and told them... `I have one goal in my life and that is to make sure my children are happy and music is what makes Linda happy, and you're going to leave her alone.' "I couldn't believe he had done that for me." A spiritual man, Dr. Walmsley was a dedicated member of Walton United Church for 60 years, where he acted as a trustee, served on committees and was involved with the bible study classes. Dr. Walmsley was also a member of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) for 62 years and the Probus Club of Oakville. In 2009, he won the Oakville Community Spirit award. This year, he was the recipient of the OMA's 2014 Physicians Care Award for Halton. Described by his daughter as a man with a lot of stamina, Dr. Walmsley was an avid runner, competing in numerous races and marathons and even won awards for his age Alan Ogilvie PLATINUM CHARTERED PRofEssionAl ACCoUnTAnT Friendly, Affordable, State-of-the-Art, Personal For voting us Platinum and Gold for Best AccountAnt and tAX PREPARAtIon & AccountInG FIRm category.
