The Oakville Terry Fox Run raised $125,000 for cancer research. "More people attended than I ever remember seeing," said run chair and Ward 2 Councillor Pam Damoff. The event began with registration at 9 a.m. and the walk/run/jog/ride/cycle and more got underway at 10 a.m. This year's event featured two-kilometre, ve-kilometre and 10-kilometre options and were bicycle, inline skating and wheelchair accessible. Following O Canada and an of cial ceremony that included words of welcome from Ontario Labour Minister and Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn and Damoff, participants were off to the strains of bagpipe music. They followed a circuitous route that wound past numerous signs erected in memory of someone lost to or battling cancer and carried on to Bronte Harbour and back again.
