The spin event, held at the River Oaks Community Centre every October, raises funds and awareness for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a rare and often fatal lung disease. A double-lung transplant recipient, Alexander-Carew took over the planning of Rob's Ride after his friend Robyn Rourke founded the inaugural event to support him in his fight against IPF. The event supports the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (CPFF), which helps and educates patients and their families about a disease that is often poorly understood. An avid indoor cycling rider and instructor, Alexander-Carew led two of the six sessions at the spin event, held Friday, Oct. 24, which raised more than $20,000 for the CPFF.
