Laurent Thibault, HHS Board of Directors, and Denise Hardenne, President & CEO, accept the Certificate of Honorary Commendation for the Award in Leading Governance from Cathy Szabo, HIROC Board Chair HHS Awarded NICHE "Exemplar" Status Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) has been awarded the "Exemplar" status for its NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) program, for the second consecutive year. NICHE is an international program designed to help hospitals improve the care of older adults by better understanding and meeting their needs. The "Exemplar" status recognizes HHS' ongoing, high-level commitment to providing exceptional geriatric care throughout its three community hospitals. HHS is currently one of only two healthcare facilities in Canada to achieve this status. The HHS Board of Directors was recognized for creating an innovative capital project management charter and establishing a unique Capital Planning Advisory Committee that engages stakeholders and community members to oversee the New Oakville Hospital project, which will open in December 2015. The new model, which draws on community expertise and experience has engaged the community and delivered outstanding value. HHS is now using this model for major upcoming redevelopment projects at Georgetown Hospital and Milton District Hospital.
