After moving to Ontario, she earned a Certificate in Special Education from York University while teaching full time and raising two young boys. Margaret was a natural educator, Head of English, Public Speaking and Debating at MacLachlan College in Oakville where she taught for 25 years. In retirement she volunteered with the Halton Multicultural Council, teaching older newcomers to Canada to better communicate in English, and creating learning programs to assist in this quest. However, her greatest delight lay in the time she spent with her lovely grandchildren. Literature, poetry, conversation and her book club remained central to Margaret's life; together with interaction with her very many close friends and colleagues. Our time with Margaret, though far too brief, was a delight, and she will be greatly missed. Our sincere thanks go to Dr. Edward Jacobson, the staff of Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, the Ian Anderson House and the nurses and personal care workers whose efforts and friendship helped ease Margaret's battle with terminal cancer since June of last year.
