Operation Christmas Spirit will take over Evangel with children's entertain ers Dale and Virginia Borland of Joy 1250, free balloons, kids' loot bags, face painting and a lively stage presentation. The one-day pre-Christmas give away to families in need begins at 11 a.m. The church has raised enough money to buy food to give away four bags of groceries to each family as well as new toys for the children. There are no requirements for people to receive the food and toys, however they must register by calling Evangel at 905-827-0251 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. by Friday to ensure they will receive food and toys. Evangel Pentecostal Church is at 1450 Rebecca St., across from Hopedale Shopping Centre. Guests will also be part of a 45minute Christmas presentation that the church members have prepared for them including a variety of entertain ment and the children's choir. Groceries will be distributed to more than 300 families. No identification is required, but guests must pre-register to attend. The goal of Operation Christmas Spirin s to reach out to~nee3y children antfTheir families in Oakville. More than 20,000 pounds of free groceries will be distributed, as well as a free toy will be given to every child. More than 200 volunteers including Mayor Ann Mulvale and Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn will help distribute food and gifts. According to Bill Fletcher, founder of The Goodness Project. "This is an exciting opportunity for Oakville resi dents to unite and do something positive to combat the growing problems plagu ing our community. All of our guests attending will be greeted with open arms and will be given nourishment for both their body and soul. These people are our honoured guests and we will do everything we can to make a difference in their lives." The Goodness Project (Open. In addition to the many very reasonably priced items for sale, breakfast and iunch will be available. The bazaar begins at 9 a.m. and admission is free. The displays include a treasure table, a silent auction, original art, prints, sewing, knitting, baking, jams and jellies, soap, jewelry, a quilt raffle, and more, ending at 3 p.m. Breakfast with Santa is from 9 - 1 0 a.m. There will also be face painting, write a letter to Santa and get a reply, and a kid's shopping table - young ones $3, grown ups $5.
