www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, February 26, 2015 | 10 `Amazing little girl should have had the chance to live': Brandy Herbert continued from p.9 Savannah continued with radiation and chemotherapy, but the cancer kept growing. "We were trying to get her through to spring to a clinical trial, but there were some areas they couldn't radiate and one of the tumours in her lung burst," Brandy said. About two-and-a-half years after her diagnosis, Savannah died. She left behind her mom, big brother Cody, 10, and big sister Dakota, 8. "They're doing OK. Because Savannah and I would be gone for such long periods during her treatment, I don't think it's going to hit them for a while. They insisted she be cremated so she can be here with us. They were very adamant about There was something about that little girl. She was always smiling. You would have to search for a bad picture of her. She was the strongest person I've ever met in my life. The cancer didn't beat her right up until the end. She was up until midnight, drinking hot chocolate and eating chicken soup. Savannah's mother Brandy Herbert bringing her home." Brandy spends a lot of time gazing over hundreds of photos and videos she has of Savannah. "There was something about that little girl. She was always smiling. You would have to search for a bad picture of her," Brandy said. "She was the strongest person I've ever met in my life. The cancer didn't beat her right up until the end. She was up until midnight, drinking hot chocolate and eating chicken soup." Brandy is forever grateful to the community members who donated funds to help her. A single parent and sole source of income for her family, Brandy had to take time off to care for Savannah. People also participated in blood drives in honour of Savannah, who had more than 100 blood transfusions. "The community and schools have been amazing since Day One, helping my family, taking care of my two children when Savannah and I were gone, supporting the blood clinics and raising awareness for pediatric cancer. I can't say enough about this community," said Brandy. "I want to thank the community for everything and I want them to remember Savannah as an amazing little girl who should have had the chance to live. She was a firecracker, that one." with files from David Lea Certified Auto Glass Technicians with 22 years of experience All windshield, door & back glass in stock We pay up to 100% of insurance Deductible · We deal directly with your Insurance Company · Life time Warranty against leaks · Stone chip repairs · Free Mobile Service · Free Pickup & Drop OFF d rs n this a Mentio dshield wipe in w ls e e d e t Fr d mo ake an and ge most m Applies to $ 100 Off A pair of Prescription Glasses or Sunglasses 281 Speers Road Oakville ON 905.339.0339 1.855.339.0339 www.speersautoglass.ca 92 Dunn Street et h Downtown oakville Ke rr St .
