11 | Thursday, February 26, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com NEWS AND INFORMATION FROM OAKVILLE-TRAFALGAR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FEBRUARY 2015 OTMH celebrates Sweet 65th Anniversary Halton Healthcare Services marked Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital's (OTMH) 65th Anniversary with a "Sweet 65" Chocolate Affair on February 18, 2015. Held in the OTMH Cafeteria, this event was a great opportunity to celebrate the Hospital's history and its successes since its opening. "Today we have an opportunity to walk down memory lane and reminisce a little as we celebrate our history, our "sweet successes", and all the good times we had at OTMH." said Denise Hardenne, HHS President and CEO. "Built by the community for the community, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital opened with 50 beds, 13 staff doctors, and 13 nurses in February of 1950 and has been growing ever since to keep pace with the healthcare needs of its rapidly growing community." HHS will close its current 327 Reynolds Street OTMH location when it moves to the New Oakville Hospital at Dundas Street and Third Line, in December 2015. The Sweet 65 Anniversary celebration was w as the first first in a series of celebrations celebrations that are being organized throughout the year to recognize and honour OTMH's history. Town of Oakville's contribution The Oakville Town Council pre-approved $130 million in its 2015 capital budget for its local share commitment to the New Oakville Hospital at its meeting held Monday, January 26, 2015. Council also approved the terms for the transfer of the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital site to the town. "Building a new hospital for Oakville is a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Denise Hardenne, President & CEO, Halton Healthcare Services. "We have benefited from the tremendous support we received from the Town of Oakville both in terms of financial support and through their contributions at the Board level and as a member of the Capital Planning Advisory Committee. With the support of the Town of Oakville, Halton Healthcare Services will successfully deliver on its April 2010 promise to make the new Oakville hospital a reality."
