The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 9, 2002 - A3 Purse snatcher attacks 71-year-old shopper Halton Regional Police are looking for a thief who grabbed the purse of an elderly woman at Oakville Place Monday morning. At was around 11:30 a.m. when the 71-year old lady left the mall through the doors on the upper level north side of Sears. As she opened her van, the woman was shoved from behind, struck the vehicle and fell to the ground. After her purse was snatched, the woman called for help and was assisted by a customer leaving the mall. Police and ambulance personnel were summoned and the woman was taken to hospital with cuts to her face and leg. Unfortunately she cannot identify her attacker. The purse was later located in the creek near White Oaks Secondary School on McCraney Street near Sixth Line.
