- "He came to Canada in 1870 and engaged in the cattle and butcher business... He was for many years a prominent figure in the business life of Oakville, and for a number of years served as town Councillor and Reeve. The deceased was a member of the Board of Managers of the Presbyterian church and in his younger days was a member of the choir, being the possessor of an excellent bass voice."
