www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, May 29, 2015 | 26 Seven-year-old illustrator releases book series with mom by John Bkila Oakville Beaver Staff Artscene "Connected to your Community" Seven-year-old Eren Hadzhalaran can add being a published illustrator to his eventual resumé, thanks to his mom, Senur. Publishing books is a family affair for the Oakville mother, who has written 20 books and published 14, so far, with her son Eren. Her older son, Iker, is editor of the children's book series called Eren and Mom Children's Books. What makes the endeavour more commendable for Eren is the Grade 2 River Oaks Public School student has sold the books in his neighbourhood and raised approximately $1,050 for his school's Angel Fund. "Eren is very friendly, helpful and loves asking questions about the world around him," said Senur. "He drew rough pictures for the first time when he was four years old in a little book about space when he was in Junior Kindergarten. I noticed he was talented, so the next year, in Senior Kindergarten, we started drawing actual pictures and I started writing stories to accompany those pictures." Within the umbrella of Eren and Mom Children's Books, there are six books in a series called The Boy Named Why and three books in the Sally TroubleMaker series -- the rest of the books are single stories. "Eren's books are educational and rich in morals that are beneficial for kids as they grow to become kind, principled individuals in our society," said Senur. "The stories are fun to read and contain many rhymes that kids are delighted to sound out." The books focus on topics such as bullying, outer space, animals, fruits, vegetables and healthy living. Their reading levels range between Senior Kindergarten and Grade 4. The Hadzhalaran trio held a book-signing and storytime event at a Milton Chapters earlier this month, while a similar event is planned for the Oakville Chapters on Sept. 26. Senur and Eren's books are available on Amazon by searching "Eren and Mom" or at their website www.erenandmom.com. The pair also have a Facebook page. presents Eren Hadzhalaran, 7, and his mom Senur were recently at a Chapters in Milton for their book-signing and storytime event.
