Organized and supported by the Rotary Club of Oakville (RCO), Rotary Club of Oakville West (RCOW) and Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar (RCOT), the annual Celebration of Achievement awards and dinner recognized the community contributions of nearly threedozen high school students. The RCO hosted this year's affair at Le Dome Banquet Hall, which drew 185 people -- the event's largest crowd to date, according to Rotary officials. More than $60,000 in bursaries, funded by all three Oakville Rotary clubs, was given to students for their post-secondary education. A new endowment was created by the RCOW this year -- the Donna Messer Memorial Service Above Self Award -- in honour of the late Oakville resident, networking guru and Rotary member, who died of cancer on her 73rd birthday in April.
