The Monarch Ball will also be the launch event for the new Oakville Conference & Banquet Centre, on Wyecroft Road near Bronte Road, scheduled to open this spring. Highlights of the black tie affair will include gourmet hors d'oeurvres and a creative themed menu designed by caterers Lynn & Morris Mercanti of the Oakville Conference & Banquet Centre. A silent auction and dance will also be part of the evening's entertainment. Tickets are $200 each with charitable tax receipts issued for a portion of the ticket purchase. A ccording to B urlin g to n D etach m en t OPP, the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes east o f D orval D rive around 6:30 a.m. A GMC pickup driven by Donald Lyle, o f Burlington, was traveling east when it struck a concrete restraining b arrier and lost con trol. The pickup then collided w ith a Ford Taurus driven by D avid Sm ith, 42, of Thorold. Lyle was tran sp o rted to T o ro n to 's Sunnybrook H ospital where he is listed in critical, but stable condition. Smith was not injured.
