Preschool-aged children and their parents can explore science and technology at Preschool Discovery Labs, get acquainted with art at themed `crafternoons' and shake out their sillies at interactive play-based programs. Activities for school-aged children include hands-on 3D printing workshops, fun with arm knitting, LEGO robotics, a fun book-themed club and much more. For teens A variety of new real-life-skill workshops are being introduced for teens: Think Like An Entrepeneur, Scholarship Search and Code Your Own Game are just a few samples. 3D Design classes and 3D Printing nights will be offered from September to March, where teens will have the chance to experiment with this incredible new technology. Along with these great programs, the Write2Xpress writing contest returns for its 11th year with a new theme and great prizes; the entry submission period runs from Sept. 8 ­ Oct. 15. For adults Some exciting authors will be visiting the library over the next few months, including Lawrence Hill (The Book of Negroes), Don Gillmor (Long Change) and Sonia Faruqi (Project Animal Farm: An Accidental Journey into the Secret World of Farming and the Truth about our Food). Several programs are being offered for newcomers to Canada including Citizenship Information Sessions and Know Your Rights at Work seminars. Adult book clubs, 3D Design classes, an Online Book Club and Seniors' Series are just a few samples from the library's adult program roster.
