Global Entrepreneurship Week runs Nov.15-21, and as part of the recognition of the week, the Halton Region Small Business Centre (SBC) wants to promote all of the different programs and services it has to offer youths looking to start or expand a small local business. The centre offers three programs for youths and young adults, each designed to offer training, mentoring and the potential for financial incentives. There are also business planning and startup resources available to assist youths, who are applying for these programs. The programs include: · Futurpreneur Canada -- The Halton Region Small Business Centre is the local community partner for Futurpreneur Canada, which is a national, non-profit organization that provides financing, mentoring and resources to aspiring business owners ages 1839 years. · Starter Company -- This entrepreneurship program is designed to help young people in Ontario between the ages of 18-29 years start, grow or buy a small business. The program provides training, mentoring and an opportunity for a micro-grant of up to $5,000 for eligible participants. · Summer Company -- This program offers business training and mentoring to enterprising students' ages 15-29 years to help them start and run their own summer business. As an added feature during Global Entrepreneurship Week, the centre will be holding a special youth networking event on Tuesday (Nov. 17). The event will be for youths who may be thinking about entrepreneurship or who are at the beginning of planning or starting a business.
