Local skaters to compete in Edmonton Webb unable to tame Mustangs in Jr. final Oakville will be well represented at the upcoming Skate Canada Challenge in Edmonton. Five skaters who train with Skate Oakville have qualified for the Dec. 2-5 event, as have three Oakville residents who are members of Milton Skating Club. The Skate Canada Challenge is the only opportunity for novice, junior and senior skaters to qualify for the Canadian Tire National Skating Championships. Representing Skate Oakville will be the novice dance team of Kaitlyn Chubb and Alexander Moses, junior women's competitor Emma Dinda and pre-novice women's skater Jaime Gabbard. Chubb and Moses earned bronze at the recent Central Ontario sectional championships at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Dinda won her event at Nova Scotia sectionals, and Gabbard qualified with a bronze-medal performance in the Newfoundland/Labrador championships. Alaine Chartrand, a Prescott, Ont., native who trains in Oakville, will also compete at the Skate Canada Challenge in senior women's events. Skate Oakville's Eugene Zhang won a bronze (juvenile under-12 men's freeskate) at Central Ontario sectionals.
