- Three 1916 newspaper clippings from the scrapbook of Miss Lizzie McGowan which was recently donated to the Trafalgar Township Historical Society by the Biggar family.

Biggar - Conover ;
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Conover, Dundas Street, Trafalgar, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday afternoon, February 26th, when their elder daughter, Mary Ethel, was married to Wilbert H. Biggar, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.A, Biggar, Trafalgar, in the presence of immediate relatives. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. J. Wesley Bean, B.D., superintendent of Trafalgar circuit.
The bride wore a lovely wedding gown of white silk crepe de chene, with Georgette crepe and lace, and tulle veil caught with orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white roses and maidenhair fern. Her only attendant was her little cousin, Benita Post, who wore a dainty frock of accordion pleated pink silk and carried a basket of pink carnations and marguerites. Miss Luena Conover, sister of the bride, played the wedding march (Mendelssohn's) and during the reception Mrs. W.A. Cook, wife of the junior pastor of Trafalgar circuit, sang "Love Divine".
After the reception an elaborated dejuener was served, the floral decorations of the tables being daffodils and sweet peas. Neat congratulatory speeches followed by Rev. Messrs. Bean and Cooke, M.L. Biggar and other gentlemen, who each referred in the highest terms to the bride and groom.
The presents were numerous and costly including some handsome cheques. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a case of silver flatware, to the little flower girl a gold bracelet, and to the pianist a pendant and chain.
Mr. and Mrs. Biggar left by motor for Oakville where they took the evening train for London and Chatham, the bride traveling in a suit of navy blue gabardine with hat to match.
One of the welcome guests at the wedding was M.L. Biggar, grandfather of the bridegroom, who recently celebrated his ninetieth birthday at "Glenclare Farm", the future home of the young couple.

Their son, Albert Anson Bigger, b.November 13, 1856, d.June 24, 1938 married Henrietta (called Hettie) Almira (Munn) Bigger, b.October 26, 1860, d. November 26, 1962. Hettie's parents were King Henry Munn and Ann Catherine Snider. Children of Hettie and Albert were: Clara A. Bigger, b.February 13, 1884, d.1978. William James, b.July 26, 1886. Wilbert Henry, b.May 6, 1887 d.June 13, 1960. The family is buried at St. Jude's Cemetery, Oakville.
