Landfill open Sundays, April 17-July 10 Halton's Waste Management Site is extending its operating hours to include Sundays from April 17-July 10. The site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for 13 consecutive Sundays as part of a $31,000 pilot project that will study how many customers use it on Sundays, the cost to operate an extra day, customer satisfaction and the overall impact on operations. The change in operation was detailed in an information report reviewed by Halton Region's planning and public works committee last month. The report states customers will have full UP TO 25 | Thursday, March 31, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com access to waste disposal services currently provided Monday to Saturday. They include: · Household hazardous waste drop-off depot; · Salvation Army Reuse Depot; · Container Station. The Region will document the tonnes of materials off-loaded, traffic, financial and operating impacts. A report on the pilot project will go to Regional council in the fall of this year to determine if the regional landfill site should remain open on Sundays permanently.
