The funds will be used to offer free biotechnology education and provide access to state-of-theart STEM equipment, such as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine, electrophoresis and other lab instruments. If the target is reached, the money will fund a free test session of the program -- a five-day GENEius Girls March Break Camp in Toronto to provide workshops for 20-30 girls. A scaled-down version for a small group of students will happen if the objective isn't met. "In the future, I would like to run the program all over the place... so holding camps in Oakville and across the GTA is what I set my sights on. We have to start off small," said Anthony. "When you think of scientists, you have that Albert Einstein archetype in your head. We want to change that, so when girls think of these careers, they see themselves, they see women and they see diversity."
