Nurten Kaska sustained fatal injuries at around 8 p.m., after several vehicles struck a piece of metal debris, which was laying in the roadway of the Torontobound lanes of the QEW in the vicinity of Winston Churchill Boulevard. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the debris was a solid steel component of a tow truck. At two feet in length, and about 8-10 inches high, he said the debris caused signi cant undercarriage damage to the vehicles that hit it and caused them to become disabled and pull over to the shoulder of the highway.
