Beloved wife of the late Warren, she leaves her two children: Jim (Lesley) and Lynn (Terry); five grandchildren: Erin, Mathew, Cameron, Joel-Adam and LizAnn; and one great-grandchild, Liam. Jean and her husband Warren were owner-operators of the Cedar Croft Motor Court after Warren's mother died, from 1950 to 1994. They welcomed tourists and folks moving to Oakville who required temporary lodging. Consequently, they developed many friendships with people from near and far. Jean was a founding member of St. Paul's United Church (1956), where she was the first organist and for many years after, Jean could be relied upon to play the piano for the U.C.W., weddings or variety shows. Jean also performed occasionally with friends in a local Dixieland jazz band. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Our deepest gratitude to all the staff at Post Inn Village, especially the 4th floor (Linden) where Jean resided for the past couple of years. Flowers gratefully declined. Condolences and information through www.koprivataylor.com MADGETT, Noreen Audrey (England) January 18, 1930 - April 22, 2016 It is with profound sadness, that the family announces the passing of a cherished Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Noreen died peacefully at her home, on April 22, 2016, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her parents, Audrey Mae (nee Voss) and John Leslie England and her husband, Ross (1994). For Noreen, being a Mother and Nana was her greatest joy. She was so very proud of her boys, Duane (Jodie) and Jeff (Nikki) and her grandchildren Maiya, Jack, Ben and Tommy. "Aunt Neen" always made time for her sisters, Jackie (1994) and Sandy, as well as her many niece and nephews. She always went above and beyond for those she loved. Noreen was everyone's friend in the neighbourhood, at the church, in the bowling alley, and at the grandkids sporting events! A cowbell in one hand and camera in the other, SHE was the super fan in the stands! She could also be spotted zip-lining in Costa Rica, doing the hula in Hawaii, or cruising the Alaskan waters. To know her, was to love her. She had the kindest soul. She was gentle, yet so strong. She was genuine and generous, vibrant and vivacious. Her smile and sense of fun brightened the day of anyone that crossed her path. Her wonderfully warm character, zest for life and positive outlook, always drew people to her. Her heart and home was always filled with love, and everyone was welcome. Mom, Nana, Noreen, Aunt Neen...you were OUR Sunshine. You will always make us happy when skies are gray. Always with us, never forgotten, forever loved. Betty was widowed in March of last year when her beloved Archie passed away. She was the much loved mother of William, Robert (Judy), Jean (Lynn), Mary (Rodger) and Gordon (David), and cherished grandmother of Claire, Heather, Brendan, Cheryl and Sarah. She was a much loved aunt to Jim, Maureen, Bruce, Chris, Monica, Laurie, Jamie and Brian. She was predeceased by her brother Douglas but will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Joyce. Betty was born in Lochaber, Quebec, eleven years after her only brother. She grew up surrounded by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins and learned the value of extended family. Her early education was in Lochaber then Thurso then Buckingham. In the early 1940's, Betty's family moved to a farm just outside Winchester, Ontario where she finished high school. In 1946 Betty went to Montreal's Royal Victoria Hospital to train as a nurse. She graduated in 1949 as an RN. She turned down a job teaching student nurses to work at Montreal East's Shell oil refinery where she met the love of her life, Archie. They married in September 1953 and Betty left nursing to concentrate on building a family. In 1959, Betty and her family moved to the Rothesay area in New Brunswick where they continued to expand the family. Betty looked after the family single-handedly when Archie moved to work in Fort McMurray in 1968. A year later in 1969, Betty moved her family across the country to join Archie. One year in Fort McMurray was more than enough for Betty, so Betty and Archie moved their family to Oakville, Ontario where they stayed henceforth. Betty was a source of love and a pillar of strength to Archie and her family. She was an anchor in a stormy sea. She was encouraging when required, understanding and caring. She had a keen interest in her children's education and made sure each of her children had a basic musical education. She was a longtime member of Hopedale Presbyterian Church and enjoyed helping with the rummage sales, special seasonal dinners and the Christmas bazaars. Betty was devoted to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by them all. Her spirit, unconditional love and strength will live on in those who knew her. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr 905-844-2600), Oakville from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. A funeral to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Kopriva Taylor Chapel with further visitation one hour prior.
