E N G I N E T R O U B L E The Oakville Fire Department says no one was injured following a boat fire at Oakville Harbour Monday (May 16). Around 7 p.m., the Halton Police Marine Unit responded to a report of a disabled 26-foot cabin cruiser on Lake Ontario. Police towed the vessel to Oakville Harbour, at Navy Street, where it caught fire when the owner attempted to start the engine. The Town of Oakville Water Air Rescue Force (TOWARF) was present and helped create a perimeter around the boat. Firefighters were also called around 7:20 p.m. after receiving reports of smoke coming from the vessel tied at the wharf. Fire crews discovered a small fire within the vessel's engine compartment, which they quickly put out with fire extinguishers. The owner of the boat was present when the fire took place, but was not injured. The cause of the fire is unclear at this time and no damage estimate for the boat is available. -- David Lea, Oakville Beaver 9 | Thursday, May 19, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Compression soCks...
