Oakville pizza shop robbed at gunpoint, employees assaulted Halton police are searching for three suspects after a Toppers Pizza in Oakville was robbed at gunpoint and two employees were assaulted late last Friday (June 24) night. The incident occurred in a plaza located at Dorval Drive and North Service Road. Police allege shortly after 11:30 p.m., three men entered the restaurant, one of them carrying a black handgun, and assaulted two employees in an effort to obtain cash. The store was also ransacked during the robbery. Police said the men were last seen fleeing on foot westbound through the parking lot. Both victims were taken to hospital by ambulance and treated for minor injuries. The suspects are described as: • Male, black, 5-foot-10, thin build, 20s, wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans; • Male, black, 5-foot-10, thin build in his 20s; • Male, East Asian, 5-foot-8, thin build and also wearing a hoodie. Bronte Legion hosts pair of events Local veterans and members of the public are invited to attend Canada Day celebrations at the Royal Canadian Legion in Bronte today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday). The celebrations kick off Thursday (June 30) at noon with a free veterans lunch at the Bronte Legion, 79 Jones St., to which the public is also invited. The lunch goes until 1:30 p.m., with veterans eating free. Spouses and members of the public can eat for $6. Celebrations continue Friday (July 1) in the Bronte Legion parking lot starting at 11 a.m., with hamburgers, hotdogs, fresh cut fries, poutine, cold drinks as well as beer and wine available while supplies last. The entertainment begins at noon with the arrival of an Elvis impersonator for a sing-a-long and dancing.
