The Oakville Beaver, W ednesday January 18, 2006 - 17 ROAR Round Up fundraiser Jan. 27 Canadian country music duo Barnard and Brohm are performing in Oakville on Jan. 27 for the ROAR Round Up fundraiser. The concert is being staged to help support the fundraising efforts of the ROAR (Realize Opportunities to Advance Research) Up Kilimanjaro adventure, a national fundraiser for the Canadian Foundation for Infectious Diseases (CFID). In July, a group of Canadians will climb to the 19,344-foot sum m it of Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro in hopes of raising $500,000 to help protect the health of local and global com munities. Each ROAR team m em ber is required to cover their own travel and mountain expenses as well as raise at least $5,000 for CFID. There are currently 40 people on the ROAR Up Kilimanjaro team - 30 are from Oakville, Milton and Mississauga. Barnard and Brohm are coming to town to entertain and support ROAR. They've been nominated for country music awards including country album of the year, independent coun try album of the year, rising star and best group duo. "Performing is what we love to do, but when we get an opportunity to perform for a cause that is as impor tant as this one, it just makes what we do, even better," said Warren Barnard of Barnard and Brohm. "We're looking forward to being part of such an amazing adventure and helping in any way we can to raise funds for this extraordinary group of individuals."
