Health hub vision for site continued from p.1 in a follow-up press release. The proposed facility would be equipped with an indoor pool (to replace Centennial Pool), a gymnasium, youth space, an active living space, multipurpose space and community rooms. Town staff noted that based on the work required at the hospital lands (e.g. demolition of the existing hospital, site remediation, design of the community centre, construction, etc.) the community centre will probably open to the public during the fall of 2020. "It is gratifying for Council to see our extensive plans begin entering their third and final phase, and to continue exploring the opportunity for a unique community health hub in town." This fall, Town staff said they would be meeting with both local residents and user groups to get input on the exact amenities for the new centre. A detailed design of the community centre is not expected to be ready until the summer of 2018. Residents can find out more about the redevelopment plan for the former hospital site during a Town Hall meeting on Dec. 1 from 5-7 p.m. That same day, at Town Hall, residents can also participate in one of two consultation sessions to provide input into the new community centre. The sessions run from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and 21 | Thursday, October 27, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com MUSIC LESSONS kulele U & l a c o V , s m u r Guitar, Piano, D Sign up today: N FeeS io No ReGiStRat S No CoNtRaCt N oNe o PRiVate - oNe oMe C aLL aGeS WeL DIAMOND It is gratifying for council to see our extensive plans begin entering their third and final phase, and to continue exploring the opportunity for a unique community health hub in town. The exact cost of building the community centre is unclear at this time, however, the report to council stated funds are allocated in the Town's 10-year capital budget for the project. Town staff noted the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) is also undertaking a study this fall on the future health needs of the area. At this point, the Town will be allocating space on the site as a placeholder for future potential construction by the LHIN. rt New guitars sta ages from $199 k c a p ic st u o c a electric & choose from. to s d n ra b p to over 30 S, KeYBoaRDS, ie R o S S e C C a , S aMP LeS, and more!
