Getting the annual u vaccine is the best way to protect against the u, says Halton Region's Medical Of cer of Health (MOH) Dr. Hamidah Meghani. "We recommend everyone, six months of age and over, receive the u vaccine to provide protection from the u and its complications," stated Meghani in a Region release this week announcing the vaccine's availability. As u season begins, Halton Region is reminding residents of the numerous ways residents can get vaccinated. Community clinics will be hosted across the region on: · Monday, Oct. 24 from 4-8 p.m. at the Acton Arena and Community Centre, Community Hall, 415 Queen St. E.; · Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 4-8 p.m. in Oakville at Abbey Park High School, 1455 Glen Abbey Gate; see Flu on p.3 The Islamic New Year was celebrated Saturday afternoon at Oakville Town Hall with several local politicians, as well as the Consulate General of Pakistan, all delivering remarks. The 2012 Parks, Recreation and Library Master Plan recommended a new community centre for south central Oakville with the South Central Public Lands Study recommending the centre be built at the old Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital site on Reynolds Street.
