The Hornets captured the gold medal after winning six games, five by shutout, including a 6-0 triumph over North York in the championship game. The tournament helped raise funds for breast cancer patients who need financial assistance. In the championship game, goals came from six Oakville players -- Eve Maddox, Alessia Marandola, Jade Beaudry, Olvia Green, Megan Spiller and Katie Di Clemente. Grace Beer recorded three shutouts for Oakville while Cassidy Mallette had two more. To get to the final, the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League team had to get by undefeated Leaside in the semifinals. Oakville won 1-0. Earlier, the Hornets defeated Durham West 4-0, played to a scoreless tie with Whitby Wolves, lost 3-1 to North York and edged Cambridge 1-0 to secure a semifinal spot. Other members of the team include Alexandra Sheppard, Alexandra Crich, Ashley Diplock, Ava Walker, Kristy Telfer, Lauren Baldin, Mattia Vieira, Victoria Pelley and Vienna Mosler-Plata. Sergio Marandola is the head coach. His assistant coaches are Norm Beaudry, Keith Spiller and Jason Diplock. Paniccia CHA's rookie of week Daniela Paniccia made 33 saves for her first National Collegiate Athletic Association shutout as Penn State played to a 0-0 tie with the University of Connecticut last Friday in women's hockey. The former Oakville Hornets netminder stopped 13 shots in the opening period and 10 more in the second. Paniccia has a record of 1-1-1 with a 2.38 goalsagainst average and a .928 save percentage in four games with Penn State this season. 905.842.2423 | OAKVILLEHOCKEYACADEMY.COM President - Jamie Allison, 400 Game NHL Veteran jamieallison@oakvillehockeyacademy.com Vice President - Dean Van Vliet dean@oakvillehockeyacademy.com · PRIVATE/SEMI PRIVATE LESSONS · TEAM TRAINING · ON ICE DEVELOPMENT · OFF ICE DEVELOPMENT · 10,000 SQ.
