Announced in late October, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) will be amalgamating as of Feb. 1, 2017. Few details have been released other than news of the merger, however it was stated CCS and CBCF will operate under the CCS banner once the merge is finalized. One confirmed change, though, is the transition of Lynne Hudson, from CBCF CEO, who is now the CCS president and CEO. Hudson will lead both CBCF and CCS through the consolidation process. The collaboration is moving forward to place more focus on cancer research and to save money from "less duplications" of organizations with similar work, according to Mark Hierlihy CCS Ontario executive director. "We want to keep increasing our focus on fundraising in the community. We've been refocusing our staff on that in the last few months. It' s just such a positive story.
