With 67 Oakville skaters participating, the host club took home 15 of 27 available medals. Ian Welsby, Alex Giannotti, Nyla Lee San tos and Izabella Zakatsiolo won gold medals. Frank Feng, Aaron Xie, Adam Maynard, Emilio Desousa, and Jasmine Kim skated away with silver medals. Bronze winners included Samuel Mathew, Andrew Liou, Siddaarth Khanna, Mathys Marois, Lee Deluca and Juan Quintero. Twelve more Speedsters earned top-six placements. Three new sub-60 second, 500-m etre times were recorded: Connor Waters, 5 8 .1 6 ; Xie, 5 8 .7 8 ; and Em m a Borca, 59.71. Giannotti and Dania El Sammak picked up a gold and silver medal, respectively, at the first Provincial Series meet of the season in Cambridge Nov. 5-6. Top six placements were earned by Sherise Gratton, Nicole Vrazinovski, Liou and Helios He. Adam DeVellis broke the 50-second mark for the 500m race with a time of 4 9 .6 7 . Two skaters earned a cake for breaking the 60-sec ond barrier in the 500m race -- Gratton (5 9 .8 7 ) and Ainsley Little (5 9 .8 3 ).
