Predeceased by his Estonian parents, Marie (Silde) and William (a Canadian WWI vet of whom he was extremely proud) he is survived by Bernice, his w ife of 62 years, his children, Darrell, Peggy and Judy, his grandchildren Warren, Brett, Jaclyn, Patrick, Clare, Georgia and Taylor, and his siblings IImar and Sylvia. Born in Timmins in 1928, "B ill", "W ill" or "W illie ", as he was variously known, was raised on a farm in St. Catharines and attended St. Catharines Collegiate. He graduated from Niagara University in New York w ith a B.S in Economics, began his career w ith Ford Canada in Oakville and later held various senior management positions in the field of industrial/human relations. In his early years, he was very active in athletics, including football w ith the Collegiate and the Niagara Falls Dynamos, and particularly as an oarsman and sculler w ith the St. Catharines Rowing Club where he won many Canadian/North American championships in singles, doubles, fours and eights. He was a form er RCAF (Reserve) Pilot Officer and member of the RCAF Association, a member of the 10th Battery (Reserve) Association, a life member of the Dalhousie Yacht Club, and a charter member of the Niagara M ilitary Museum. He enjoyed golfing and photography, cottaging and all types of boating and fishing (including exotic fishing trips w ith his son and grandchildren in the NWT, the Yukon, Alaska and B.C.). In keeping w ith Bill's wishes, cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Bill's life w ill take place at a later date.
