The organization initially set a 2016 fundraising target of $115,000 when it began its an nual drive in November, but with the help of the public, it collected $115,257.52, according to Shan non Robinson, the group's Com munity and Family Services co ordinator. "It's always important for us to reach our target. The target we set is kind of our guideline and lets us know how we can operate our programs and services," said Robinson. "We really want to thank the residents of Oakville. Without the sup port of the Oakville com munity, none of this would be possible. We just want to express our thanks to the community." By reaching achieving its Kettle Campaign target, the Salvation Army will be able to continue to provide as sistance to those in need in Oakville throughout 2017, Robinson said. "We're looking forward to that in the year ahead. We're seeing a lot of newer families com ing to us for assistance. We'll be able to provide proper support for those families and individuals in the community," said Robinson.
