M eet ThunderHawks Saturday a t the Dom e The ThunderH aw ks will kick off their N ational Professional Soccer League indoor schedule next weekend at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga with a twin bill (Friday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 22) against the two pre vious champions -- Cleveland and Milwaukee. This weekend, however, they'll be at the Air Athletics Dome in Oakville for an autograph session followed by a practice. The autograph session runs from 4-5 p.m. followed by the two-hour practice. All are welcome. Please note the indoor driving range will obviously be closed for the duration of the event. The ThunderHawks are the latest addition to the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), the world's largest indoor soccer network which includes 14 teams from m ajor and secondary cities throughout North America. H alton's fastest The Halton Board o f Education held their Halton elemen tary school championships on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Sherwood Forest Park in Burlington. The junior meet went in the morning with 50 schools and 1,450 athletes and the senior meet went in the afternoon with 29 schools and 713 athletes. The course weaved its way from a soccer field, over bridges and small hill, through woods and back to another soccer field. Total length was 1,600m for all except the senior boys who ran an extra loop, pushing it to 2400 metres. Runners qualified from their respective divisional meets (the Oakville divisional meet was published in Wednesday's Beaver and is in today's North News), and the top five run ners from each school qualified. For the team results, the lower the score the better. Special recognition goes to two Oakville schools. Pine Grove took three of eight pennants in the junior meet and E.J. James ran away with four of six pennants at the senior meet. The names of Oakville schools and runners are boldfaced.
