"Connected to your Community " O liver! The M usical com es to O akville by Marta Marychuk Oakville Beaver Staff Burl-Oak Theatre Group (BOTG) presents Oliver! The Musical at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts Stage from April 18-23. Oliver! takes audiences on a wild adventure through Victorian England as Oliver Twist navigates London' s underworld searching for a home, a family, and m ost impor tantly for love. The show is shaping up to be BOTG's biggest show in the group's history, with a cast of nearly 4 0 people from Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga and Toronto, says Beth Poad, executive producer. "Over the years, Halton has been home to a number of very talented individuals who have gone on to leave their m ark in the world of the atre," Poad said in an email. Budding young actor from Burlington plays Oliver One of the youngest cast m em bers is Cameron Brindle who plays Oliver. Brindle is a budding young actor from Burlington, who is now in Grade 4. He started studying with Aldershot Performing Arts School at the age of five. "I predict he (Brindle) will go on to great things," Poad added. Jude Henderson portrays The Art ful Dodger. Henderson was a m em ber of the Calgary Boys Choir and now the Hamilton Children' s Choir. Previous live performance credits include Gingy in Shrek , The Baker in Beauty and the Beast and the title role in Charlie and the Chocolate Fac High-calibre talent responds to casting call Poad told the Oakville Beaver that casting Oliver, which is BOTG's first musical, was difficult because of the high calibre of talent that responded to the casting call. More than 100 people answered the call. "The talent was phenomenal," Poad said. "It was kind of mindboggling." In addition to the talented cast in Oliver!, Poad said Chantal Forde, an Oakville native who is married to the show's director Tim Cadeny, is choreographing the production. tory.
