The eternal banquet w ill be attended by the members o f the M aguire Family w ho have predeceased Joe: his fa th e r Joseph, his m other Kathleen, his b roth er Brendan (Barney) and his sisters Nelly, M o lly and Sarah. W hat w ill never be fo rg o tte n about Joe is his great and abiding love fo r his w ife o f 54 years, Janet, fo r his children M artin (Kerry), John (M artha), Anne-M arie, and Terry (Pina), and fo r his grandchildren (Tyrone, Dylan, Rhys, Erin, Neil, Kathleen, Claire, Joseph and Chiara). W hat w ill never be remembered are the many punchlines to the countless jokes th a t Joe le ft unfinished, as w ell as the countless numbers o f lost household items, some o f w hich may be rusting away on the neighbour's roof. It may be said th a t Joe M aguire was the most original fig u re w hich Ireland gave to Canada in his generation. A grocer w ho w orked both fu ll-tim e and part-tim e fo r 56 straight years, our fa th e r w orked hard at every thin g he did: raising his children, spoiling his grandchildren, tending his garden, shouting at CNN, and serving uno fficially as the Irish Tourist Board's leading spokesperson in North America, prom oting the land o f his b irth to any one w ho w ould care to listen, and to many w ho d idn't. A proud native son o f M ountjoy, Omagh, County Tyrone w ho le ft to find tem porary refuge in Toronto, Joe ended up staying fo r over 60 years, much o f th a t tim e w orkin g in Oakville and Thornhill, living in Mississauga, and not-so-secretly p lo ttin g to o ve rthrow the "tyra nn ical" rule of Hazel McCallion. Joe was w ell-kn ow n to customers of Loblaws in Oakville as the hardest-w orking, and most talkative, man in the grocery business. A nd he was w ell know n to many on Fontwell Crescent as the neighbour most likely to ask fo r help w ith his plum bing, heating or electrical. W ha t he gave in return to all w ho knew him was a laugh, a story and a smile. W ha t he gave to his fam ily was his endless energy, his hard w ork, his boundless generosity, his great passion fo r life, his indom itable spirit and his unique sense of humour. Colin was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law , grandfather, brother, uncle, and frie nd to so many. He is survived by his life-long and loving w ife , Maureen Gail; his three loving children: David, Scott, and Janice; his daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Brian; and six adoring grand children: Katelyn, Kayley, Jenny, Emily, M atthew , and Julia. Colin heralds from W innipeg, M anitoba w here fo r many years he held the position o f Vice-President in charge o f New Issues fo r the securities division o f Richardson Greenshields o f Canada. He subsequently made his home in Oakville in 1987, w here he continued in the same position fo r RBC D om inion Securities. During his many years in the financial industry, he had a re putation fo r integrity, honesty and fairness. A fte r retirem ent, his passion was to spend his summers at the cottage on Gibi Lake, near Kenora, Ontario. His many friends w ill remember his humour, w arm and w elcom ing smile, and a willingness to unconditionally help those around him. He w ill also be remembered fo r his tireless devotion and seemingly endless patience these latte r years caring fo r his ailing w ife , Maureen Gail. A ll those w ho had the privilege o f know ing him w ill miss him deeply. She lived a fu ll and vibran t 85 years, including a lifelong career in teaching (mostly w ith special needs pre-schoolers), a loving m arriage o f almost half a century, and a robust array of friends and neighbours w ho always enjoyed popping by fo r a cup of tea (or, sometimes, a glass of wine). She was endlessly generous w ith her tim e, keeping constantly busy w ith charitable interests, volunteer pursuits, her church, and her community. She was selfless and tole ra nt, and possessed a q uie t b u t solid strength. She loved gardening. A nd she really, really loved her mangoes. D orothy (nee Green) was married to husband Gary, w ho predeceased her in 2006. They m et w hen he offered to fix her broken w indshield wiper... and she in turn offered to sew the shirt he ripped w hile fixin g the w indshield wiper... and they continued to look a fte r each o ther during 47 years of marriage. It was a strong and com fortable union defined by a happy home combined w ith fre qu en t travel to Europe (when they w ere young) and to Mexico (when they w ere n o t quite as young). D orothy is survived by her three children - eldest son Anthony, youngest son Geoffrey and his w ife Gina, and daughter Jacqueline w ith w hom she shared an especially close relationship. D orothy was rig h tfu lly th rille d to be Oma to her five grandchildren (Jacob, Nicholas, A ndre, Renee, and Vanessa) and tw o great-grandchildren (Camren and Sophia). The entire fam ily is tru ly appreciative o f the agencies and people w ho enabled her to pass away q uietly and peacefully, at a tim e and place of her choosing. Special thanks go to Doctors Gordon, Slinger, and Adamek. Extra special thanks go to the palliative care team at Acclaim Health w ho allow ed D orothy to spend her fina l m onths at home in particular, Dolly, Jeannie, Brad, and Norma.
