It com pleted a month of fundraising to purchase patient care beds for Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Eight teams (six from banks and two businesses) raced down Lakeshore Road in heats, qualifiers, semi-finals and finals. Team ScotiaBank, with captain Jinisha Bhatt aboard the bedm, cruise to an easy win in the qualifying round, with Team Will Davidson LLP losing control and veering out of their lane. The personal injury lawyers were a first-time entry and accrued a time penalty for the lane violation. Olivia Giffens, 9, digs into a plate of pancakes at the free pancake breakfast. Team CIBC, comprised of a race team from three CIBC branches in Oakville, gets pumped up for the start of the first race - from left, Ben Austraco, Matt Colalillo, Scott Tremblay and Varun Sheth. Lisa Henriques, TD branch manager at Upper Middle/Eighth Line, gets in the mood to race. Team Stryker captain Natania Lazar, atop the bed, cheers on her runners as they cross the finish line to win their heat against Team RBC. Team TD races to the finish line. The challenge raised more than $100,000. To date, more than $1.4 million has been raised from this initiative. Oakville's six major banks - BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, National Bank, Royal Bank, Scotiabank and TD Canada Trust raise money at their local branches. This year's race also included community businesses Will Davidson Injury & Insurance Lawyers and Stryker. Scotiabank won the fundraising challenge, raising $31,000. BMO won the bed race and CIBC won the prize for the best-decorated bed.
