He will be making an appearance at The D og Rescuers Inch first-ever Sit. Stay Heels: A Womenfe Bazaar in Support of Rescue Dogs fundraiser, to be held at St. Mildred's-Lightboum School, 1080 Linbrook Rd. His two missing legs are the result of a birth defect. Cupid, who now uses a prosthetic device, will be at the fundraiser from 11 a .m .-l p.m. to say hello to visitors. The Dog Rescuers Inc. is a locally-based, volunteer-run group that works with more than 20 provincial shelters, pounds and humane societies, and the public, to rehome abused and neglected dogs. The group runs solely off donations and fundraising initiatives. "Love alone does not save a dog. W e have been delighted at the community outreach for Cupid. He has clearly brought a lot of awareness to rescue dogs," said Joan Znidarec, president and co-founder of The D og Rescuers Inc. "Without the generosity and compassion of fellow animal lovers, our group would not be able to continue to do what we do." The event will also feature more than 20 vendors with items specifically appealing to women and female speakers, including, Global News' Christina Stevens, W endy Burton, wife of Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, OakvilleNorth Burlington MP Pam Damoff and Joanne Soucie, who will be doing first aid and CPR demonstrations. All proceeds raised will go towards caring for dogs in need - dogs like Cupid - and will allow The D og Rescuers Inc. to continue to help dogs needing care. "Being an Oakville-based rescue, we're always appreciative of the community support we receive and we try to keep our fundraising ideas and events interesting and fun, but where our organization needs the most support, is by the community reaching out and offering to foster a dog," said Znidarec. Sit. Stay. Heels: A W om en' s Bazaar in Support of Rescue Dogs will take place Saturday, June 10 at St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School, 1080 Linbrook Rd.
