"By attaching a ribbon to your vehicle antenna, this will serve as a message to people on the roads to drive safe and sober this hol iday season," says MADD Halton president Stephanie Dooley. "Our hope is that there will not be any tragedies in our communi ty this holiday season." The campaign - which started Nov. 2nd and runs through into 2001 - has seen MADD Canada volunteers distribute four million ribbons across the country. In Halton, 50,000 ribbons were ordered. For the latest information on Red Ribbon 2000, visit the MADD Canada website at www.madd.ca. "Let's have a safe holiday season on our streets and highways. Please do not drink and drive when you are out at socials or with friends," said Dooley. S ' y fp > Photo by Peter C. Each student in her class designed a square, as did the school's Dreamacres co-ordinator Maggie Linton, and land scape architect Marius deBruyn. The squares were assembled into a quilt, using the school colours of yellow and blue, by Rout's friend Janice Knifton of Etobicoke, who suggested the idea for creating this quilt. Rout taught at Sunningdale for 27 years. The quilt was presented to the school at its recent Christmas assembly. The pro ject has been *added to the Our Millennium website (www.ourmillennium.ca) by Darlene Jones, Oakville's Millennium projects coordinator.
