Paddler Jillian Perrone wins two more medals for a total of four so far at Canada Summer Games Jillian Perrone has added to her Canada Games m edal count, earn ing four m edals at the Canada Sum mer Gam es in Winnipeg. Perrone won a pair of gold medals Thursday, teaming up with Ottawa's Rowan Hardy-Kavanagh for victo ries in the in the women's C-2 (canoe doubles) 200-metre and 500m events. Earlier in the week, Perrone, who won a gold and silver at the 2013 Canada Games, edged Nova Sco tia's Nicole Jesso p by 5/100ths of a second to take the silver m edal in M onday's C-1 500m final. The next day she added a bronze in the IC-4 (international canoe) in a crew that included her Burloak Canoe Club teammate Kate Pennyfather. The Ontario crew beat the host Mani toba by three-tenths of a second to earn a spot on the podium . Burloak athletes have claimed 12 m edals so far, including five by the Pennyfather family. Kate Pennyfather won a gold medal with Ontario's w om en's K-4 (kayak fours) crew in the 500m. Earlier in the day, the Ontario crew earned a silver medal in the 200m. Sam Pennyfather has earned two medals so far. Pennyfather won a silver medal in the C-1 1,000m on Tuesday. Thursday he added a bronze medal in the IC-4 200m and 1,000m. Also part of those bronze-medal crews was Oakville's Sam Djurfeldt, who paddles out of the Mississauga Canoe Club. In the 200m, the On tario crew edged Nova Scotia by twotenths of a second for the bronze. Burloak's Mitchell Baran earned a pair of bronze medals, taking third in the K-2 1,000m and the K-4 1,000m, where Nova Scotia edged the Ontario crew by half a second for the silver. Softball: The Ontario women's team, including Oakville's Sarah Benn and Nicole Rivait, improved to 6-0 by shutting out Quebec 4-0 Wednesday. Benn is 7-for-15 for a .466 batting average. She went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple and scored twice in a 10-0 win over Nova Scotia. Rivait is 2-for-9 with two runs in the tournament. Volleyball: Laura Madill and the Ontario team opened the women's tournament with four wins without dropping a set before falling to Alberta in four sets. Soccer: Tariq Armstrong and the Ontario went 2-0 to win its pool in the men's competition. Ontario opened with a 3-1 win over P.E.I. and then edged Alberta 1-0. Ontario was set to face Nova Scotia in the quarter-finals. Cycling: Adam Lefebvre finished 21st in a field of 49 riders in the individual time trial and was 23rd in the road race.
