Volunteers, like Taylor Brooks, pictured, met at Palermo Park, at 2345 Dundas St. W., and then walked one kilometre north to the seed collection site. Volunteers gained experi ence in restoration techniques through the collection of native seed from tallgrass prairie and wetland ecosystems. The seed will be planted at a later date on a newly-acquired CH prop erty undergoing restoration ini tiatives. Meanwhile, Glenorchy Conservation Area, established in 2008, is a 401-hectare (990 acres) parcel of land, which is currently not open to the public. It protects lands distinguished by the Sixteen Mile Creek gorge, forested slopes, headwater creeks, wetlands and shale bluffs.
