Harvest Window Box: Friday, October l Not everything at harvest time is gold and orange. Just look in the fields as you drive in the countryside--purple asters, burgundy grapevines and soft yellow meadows. The four-day event included a trade show. I was taken ^ u by "The Intelligent Plant Light" which makes houseplant growing infallible. The plant sits under and is plugged into an automatic fluores­ cent light that may be set for any light schedule and plant require­ ments. A green light on the base comes on when water is needed. The convention time was split up between periods of concurrent lec­ tures, workshops, and trips to gar- den-related local attractions. On Sunday, the photographers were up at 5 a.m. for a Photo Shoot at The Don Valley Brickworks at 6 a.m. 'File Don't Pile' was a popular workshop on organizing paper into files and files into drawers, and setting up a system to find them in 60 seconds or less. The organized people split off for a workshop on herbs. In the afternoons, we went on "Story" Tours. On Sunday, we visited Picov's, the premier Water Garden and Fishery in North America. I have not seen such a large and varied number of completely planted Garden Pool displays which were outside. The displays ranged from 4 ft. x 5 ft. Little Junior kit at under $300 through 10 kits to the 8 ft. x 17 ft. Koi Kingdom kit at $3,800. There is one for every garden and all the parts to design your own. The fish ponds are a magnet for children, and fish food machines allow them to feed the fish who come in droves with their mouths open.
