The library has a long list of programs scheduled to run each day of the week, starting on March 12 and running through to March 18. March break is an excit­ ing time for the Oakville Public Library (OPL) as it marks the beginning of the library's spring and sum­ mer calendar of programs. While a few of the activ­ ities fall under the library's regular programming, in­ cluding family storytime and family movie day, there are many other new and ex­ citing options for your fam­ ily to attend this year. The week starts with a special magic show by Bumbling Bert, as well as a workshop on how to create a garden ornament, an in­ triguing spy-science train­ ing class, and a fun story­ telling activity. The week continues with a handful of engaging art-making programs, in­ cluding a puppet-making workshop, a flowerpot de­ sign activity, painting with vegetables, and a session on creating a tissue paper bouquet. OPL will also be run­ ning a couple of mad sci­ ence programs with educa­ tional science experiments for kids, and a Fun with Plants session where your children will learn inter­ esting facts about plants from a Royal Botanical Gar­ den guest. Most of the library's March break program­ ming requires registration. Interested participants are encouraged to visit OPL's website or browse through the spring/summer guide to get more information about available programs, and to register early before the programs fill up. For the adults who would also like to take ad­ vantage of the short break, author Tom Rachman will be at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cul­ tural Centre on March 18 to discuss his upcoming nov­ el, The Italian Teacher.
