THE OAKVILLE BEAVER j une 12,1974 Teams from nine Halton high schools line-up at Oakville Trafalgar High School for the 13-mile bicycle com­ petition. Teachers Marjorie Andrew, Karen Walker and Marita Colyer take part in the race. Having arrived at their destination at Lions Valley Park the hungry cyclists roast hot dogs over a camp fire. Oakville Mayor Harry Barrett cuts the ribbon while Halton Chief of Police Ken Skerrett fires the gun to start the race. Although schools from a l l o v e r H a l t o n compet ed , Oakvi l le Trafalgar High School who organized the Tour d'Oakville last week came out on top with a winning team. The team made up of the six riders won the N.J. Turnbull trophy donated by the principal of the school, Neil Turnbull. Teams from nine other Halton high schools entered. Wi n n i n g t e a m members were: Rick Senkowski who made the 13-mile stretch in 40 min. 10 sec.; Claude Ricks 40:17; James Lebrocque 42:05; Mike Kelso 43:20; Steve McMullan 44:31 and Sarah Freke 45:25. Other schools did not compete in the individual categories. Individual winners were from OTHS. Individual winners in the first boys above five speeds category was Jeff Adam who made i t . in 39:58. Pam Archibald took the l ead in the g i r l s ' category, five speeds and over, 45:35. Adam Godziek came first in the boys three speed and under category with a time of 43:50. In the same category for girls Beth Tan ton led. Her time was 45:35. "Jeu d'arriere" was Pam Ash. In Tour de France language that means she had the honor of being the last to arrive.
