Nikki Wesley / Metroland COMMUNITY A Local Planning Ap- peal Tribunal prehearing date has been scheduled to consider plans for a sec- ond 10-storey apartment building proposed for 297 Queens Ave. The prehearing will take place on Jan. 21, 2019 at Oakville Town Hall. The developer, Star- light Development, is call- ing for a zoning change to permit the construction of the 10-storey building, which would house 159 rental units. The property is already home to one 10- storey rental apartment containing 99 units. The new building is proposed for the portion of the 0.86-hectare property between the existing rent- al building and Trafalgar Road. The design calls for a six-storey component and a 10-storey component to the building. The development would also feature two lev- els of underground park- ing. Oakville Town Hall is located to the east of the property (across Trafal- gar Road), a seven-storey residential apartment building is located to the west, Queens Parkette and a six-storey retirement home can be found to the south (across Queens Ave- nue) and a reservoir site is to the north.
