The celebration gets un- derway at 10:30 a.m., with a grand opening welcome cer- emony for the fire station, followed by a ceremony forfollowed by a ceremony forf the opening of the communi- ty centre at 11 a.m. Free family skates will take place 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A free public skate with the Oakville Blades will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Trafalgar Park Com- munity Centre offers: • Pre-registered classes and camps • Drop-in programs, rec- reational skating, skate and helmet rentals • Programs for ages 50 and up in the Trafalgar Park Older Adults Centre • An indoor track • Circuit, weight training and cardio equipment • Oakville Hockey Devel- opment programs • Fitness and wellness programs The amenities within the community centre include a 200-foot by 100-foot ice pad, a double gymnasium, rental rooms for community groups and much more. The more than $41 mil- lion project saw the historic Oakville Arena at the site re- developed into the Trafalgar Park Community Centre. Anyone planning on par- ticipating in a skate is strongly advised to bring a helmet. Skate and helmet rentals will be available at the facil- ity during the programming times. However, rental rates apply and the rentals are first-come, first serve.first-come, first serve.f Hockey sticks, pucks and equipment are not permit- ted during the free skates. A variety of food options will be available at the cen- tre throughout the day. Some vendors accept cash only. Parking at the site is lim- ited and residents are en- couraged to take public transit to the Trafalgar Park Community Centre.
