Called the Power of 10 event, the fundraiser attracts teams of 10 taking turns of 10 minutes each pedalling a static bike. Organizers expect more than 300 cyclists to show up at the Mattamy National Cycling Cen- tre in Milton on Saturday, Oct. 13. All levels of cyclists partici- pate - novice riders, enthusiasts and seasoned road warriors. The teams ride for 100 minutes and cover around 1,000 commu- nity kilometres. "I first found out about the Power of 10 two years ago from an acquaintance who would be volunteering at the event," said Oakville's Lori Schledewitz, who has friends from many dif- ferent groups participating.ferent groups participating.f Schledewitz, in her second year of cycling in the Power of 10 event, will participate on three teams, including the "Fat Bot- tomed Girls," who recently visit- ed the Lighthouse. "(They) were awed and truly grateful for the support services offered to grieving children and youth in our community," said Schledewitz. "As a parent of teenagers, I know the struggle they go through trying to find their place in the world.
